New facts have emerged after members of Imo State house of assembly boycotted the 2018 annual budget
presentation by the Governor, Rochas Okorocha, the first in the history of the state since its creation in 1976.
Nigeria Today team learnt that, some members of the State house of Assembly have now threatened to impeach the speaker, Chief Acho Ihim because of the face-off between the executive and the legislature for what they termed complicity in the face of recent reality.
According to some members of the House, non- release of constituency allowance since 2015 which has dented their images in their respective constituencies, spending public funds on wasteful projects without accountability among others informed their decision.
The law makers express worry over the way and manner the son-in-law to the governor Mr. Uche Nwosu who is also the Governor’s chief of staff disrespect and abuse them.
They also complained about some wasteful projects which was not included in the 2017 budget and has no direct impact on the populace but has been executed and completed by the Governor with public funds. Such projects according to them include the Owerri Christmas flower project, hosting and erecting status of some African heads
of State, urban renewal among others.
